Life's biggest transitions often come with uncertainty, difficult decisions, and high emotions. Whether navigating a divorce or buying or selling a home, having the right attorney by your side can make all the difference.
Michelle Ferguson is the Principal Partner and co-founder of Greenberg & Sinkovits, where she focuses her practice on family law and residential real estate. She helps clients navigate life's major transitions with practical advice, responsive communication, and thoughtful advocacy.

Michelle represents clients throughout the Chicago area in divorce, allocation of parental responsibilities, parenting time, child support, maintenance (formerly known as alimony), property division, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and other family law matters. She believes the best representation starts with listening, understanding what matters most to each client, and developing a strategy tailored to each client's unique circumstances and goals.
In addition to her family law practice, Michelle maintains an active residential real estate practice, representing buyers and sellers in transactions of all sizes and stages of life. From first homes to forever homes, investment properties to downsizing, she provides practical guidance, careful attention to detail, and responsive communication from contract through closing. She understands that buying or selling a home is one of the most significant financial decisions many people will make and is committed to making the process as smooth, informed, and efficient as possible.
A skilled negotiator and experienced litigator, Michelle prepares every case thoroughly while always looking for opportunities to resolve disputes efficiently and effectively. Whether advocating in the courtroom or helping clients reach thoughtful settlements, her focus remains the same: providing clear guidance, honest advice, and strong advocacy so clients can move forward with confidence.
Michelle co-founded Greenberg & Sinkovits because she believed the practice of law should be centered on people, not just legal issues. She is committed to responsive communication, practical solutions, and helping clients understand their options so they can make informed decisions during life's most challenging moments.
Since 2010, Michelle has helped individuals and families navigate divorce, parenting disputes, financial issues, and other significant life transitions. She has experience handling matters ranging from amicable resolutions to highly contested litigation involving complex financial issues, business interests, executive compensation, and substantial marital estates. As both a trained mediator and an attorney trained in Collaborative Divorce, Michelle understands that every family requires a different approach. Whether negotiating a thoughtful settlement or advocating in court, her focus remains the same: protecting her clients' interests while helping them move forward with confidence.
Clients appreciate Michelle's ability to explain complex legal issues in a straightforward, understandable way while remaining honest about both opportunities and challenges. She is known for being responsive, well-prepared, and strategic, helping clients feel informed and supported throughout the legal process. Her goal is not simply to resolve today's legal issue, but to help clients confidently begin the next chapter of their lives.
As Principal Partner of Greenberg & Sinkovits, Michelle is committed not only to providing exceptional client service, but also to fostering a collaborative, client-centered culture within the firm. She enjoys mentoring attorneys and staff and believes that building a strong team ultimately leads to better outcomes and a better experience for every client.
Beyond the Office
Michelle is a mother of three and lifelong Chicago-area resident. She understands firsthand the challenges of balancing careers, parenting, and family life, experiences that shape the empathy and practical perspective she brings to every client relationship.
When she's not practicing law, Michelle enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, staying active, and discovering Chicago's restaurants. She believes that listening, maintaining perspective, and building strong relationships are just as important outside the office as they are when helping clients navigate life's biggest decisions.
